Dear the Dean of Students at ISSCAD!

Dear Academic staff!

Dear Members of the university community!

Dear Graduating Students!

It is my honor and privilege to speak on behalf of the 2022 class of doctoral and MPA graduates of the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development (ISSCAD) of Peking University.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate us all on our achievements. It is a testimony of our hard work, determination, and sacrifice given the challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic that broke out world-wide in early 2020. The swift and decisive measures taken by PKU to launch on-line classes and managing them successfully to the end are commendable. This is a   formidable deed which we graduates and the university community at large should be proud of.

The experience with the ISSCAD of PKU is unforgettable.  We cherish the people we have come to know and who have become life-time friends and the memories that we have created together. In this regard, I believe every one of you would agree with me that our stay at the Global Village of PKU with its wonderful amenities is a reflection of China’s growing role as a global country.  For instance, the 2019 intake of ISSCAD on both the Doctoral and MPA Programs was drawn from 27 countries across the developing world of Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

Thus, as graduates of Peking University, every one of us should endeavor to expand worldwide alumni network to keep our memories alive and strengthen our attachments as families of the ISSCAD community and the PKU at large. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate PKU for being the 12th top university according to the QS World University Rankings 2023.

I would like to extend our thanks to the government of the People’s Republic of China for awarding us the Scholarship to study at the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development of Peking University. We are also grateful to the ISSCAD family who facilitated the learning and knowledge sharing process in the course of our Doctoral and MPA Programs.

Finally, I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our professors, supervisors, teaching assistants, and administrative staff at the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development and the PKU community at large, in which all of whom have contributed their share for the collective good in the course of our Programs in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. I also would like to thank the families, friends, and loved ones that have joined us today and supported us throughout our journey at Peking University.

Let us now look into the future with open minds and celebrate our achievements, and at the same time think about what we can do with it for the betterment of our respective nations and citizens.

Once again, congratulations to you all and wish you all the best for the future.
