讲座题目:The U.S. Through Chinese Eyes (2020–2024): Public Opinion Amid Great-Power Competition
内容简介:This study investigates how Chinese public opinion toward the U.S. evolved during a period of intense geopolitical rivalry, spanning the 2020 and 2024 U.S. presidential elections. Using paired pre- and post-election surveys, this research examines how political transitions in the U.S. influence Chinese perceptions across three dimensions: bilateral relations, U.S. leadership, and China’s global standing. Key findings indicate that public opinions have shifted on some issues while stabilizing on others across the span of the four surveys. The surveys also reveal a stronger preference for strengthening relations with Europe than with the U.S. Nonetheless, the majority favors balanced relations between the West and the Global South.
