讲座题目：The PhD Earnings Distribution in the US: What, if Anything, Changed between 2003 and 2023?

内容简介：This paper uses data from the 2003 and 2023 National Survey of College Graduates and the 2003 and 2023 Survey of Doctorate Recipients to study the changes in the earnings distribution of US workers with PhD degrees. Unconditional quantile estimates using recentered influence function techniques are used to investigate whether there is any evidence that differences in the earnings distribution by gender and race/ethnicity have changed over this twenty-year period. While the gender and race/ethnicity distribution of the PhD field of study has changed considerably over this period, earnings differences by gender and race/ethnicity among those with PhDs in the same field have changed very little.

主讲人简介：Dr. Brian P. McCall is an economist whose research spans labor economics, the economics of education, applied econometrics, and social insurance. He is currently a professor at the University of Michigan, holding positions at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, the Marsal Family School of Education, and the Department of Economics in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.

Dr. McCall earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Princeton University after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. His academic career began at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, where he progressed from Assistant to Full Professor before joining the University of Michigan in 2007.

Dr. McCall has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in leading economics and education journals. His work has explored critical topics such as the impacts of financial aid on college completion, student loan repayment, and the influence of unemployment insurance on labor market outcomes. He co-authored the Economics of Search and edited the Routledge Handbook of the Economics of Education.
