题目：Is healthcare market special? Related evidences from US and China
Abstract:
One of the most debated issues in health economics is that whether the healthcare market special, or at least differ from markets for standard commodities. A recent study from the AER found a causality relationship that higher quality hospitals (performance) have higher market shares and grow more over time, which suggested that health care may have more in common with “traditional” sectors subject to market forces than often assumed (Chandra and Finkelstein et al., 2016).
We further presented two latest studies from China: I. The first study uses the construction of China’s high speed rail network as a natural experiment to test whether healthcare service agglomeration in metro-city existed. II. In contrast to most developed countries, discharge against-medical advice (AMA) from hospital, rather than the transfer discharge from hospital, is the second largest hospital discharge status in China. More analyses find that physicians’ workload is associated with patients’ AMA behaviour, and this relationship is opposite between in hospitals and primary care facilities.
个人简介：唐程翔，澳大利亚新南威尔士大学经济学博士，卫生事业管理硕士，现任广州大学公共管理学院副教授，北京大学青年卫生经济学者，北京交通大学兼职教授，西南财经大学兼职研究员。研究领域包括卫生经济和卫生人力资源、医疗大数据、选择建模和实验经济学，已在Health Policy and Planning, Health Economics, Human Resources for Health等SSCI/SCI期刊发表英文研究13篇。主持国家自然科学基金青年项目，并担任国家自科基金委面上项目评审。担任BMC Medical Education（SSCI二区期刊）副主编，和多本SSCI期刊评审。
