Syllabus
课程简介
这是为本科双学位学生开设的任选课。通过阅读经精心节选的真实的习惯法判例和经典学术论文，以及通过苏格拉底式的讨论，本课程向学生传授普适的经济分析原理，并示范如何使用这些原理来深刻分析各门类的法律和管制现象。欢迎任何对经济学、法学和公共政策感兴趣的同学选修。
本课程不需要法律和经济学基础，但需要刻苦阅读，因为阅读材料为英文，且数量较大。
同学们宜尽早组成3-5 人的学习小组，充分利用团队的力量，克服可能存在的困难。课堂讨论和考试用中文。总评成绩由两次各1 小时的期中闭卷考试（各占20%）、2 小时的期末闭卷考试（占40%）和20%课堂表现构成。
Overview
This course teaches the students economic way of thinking by subjecting the phenomenon of law and regulation in their broadest sense to economic analysis. Though a lot of materials used in this course are related to U.S. common law, this is not a course in law. Nor is it a course about economic laws. Instead, it is a course introducing the universal economic analysis and its use in examining the phenomenon of law and regulation. Anyone who is interested in learning economics and its application may take it.
Requirement
No prior knowledge of either law or economics is required, though a sound understanding of basic microeconomics is surely beneficial. Readings will be demanding, not only because almost all of them are in English but also because they are rather voluminous. It is highly encouraged for the students to form study groups in size of 3-5 persons from the very beginning of the semester and stick to that so to take full advantage of the teamwork.
Language
Almost all readings are in English, while lectures, discussions and examinations shall be conducted in Chinese.

Assignment
Among others, each student will be assigned, or volunteer, two court cases or academic papersto be presented in the class. Each presentation is in two parts: (1) summary of the case/paper and (2) Q&A, each of which is supposed to be limited in 10 minutes in length.
Grades
The final grade will be based upon two closed-book mid-term exams (20 percent each), a closedbook final exam (40 percent), and classroom performance (20 percent).
