论文题目:Engineering the Gender Gap: Fall of Women’s Share in Computer Science in the U.S

论文摘要:

This paper exploits historical changes in university organizations and studies its role in gendered college major choices. Specifically, I document a strong mathematical lineage of Computer Science and the shifting departmental affiliations towards engineering, a traditionally all-male territory. I found that the percentage of women earning Computer Science bachelor’s degrees decreases when the Computer Science department moves from colleges of liberal arts and sciences to the traditionally masculine domain of schools of engineering.
