Call for Papers
9th International Macroeconomics and Finance Conference
“Fragmentation and Turbulence in the Global Economy” June 7-8 2025
Beijing, China
Peking University will host the 9th International Macroeconomics and Finance conference(IMFC9) on “Fragmentation and Turbulence in the Global Economy” on 7-8 June 2025 in collaboration with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Keio University, Korea University, and the University of British Columbia. Confirmed speakers are Michael Devereux (University of British Columbia) and Yan Bai (University of Rochester).
This conference aims to bring frontier research on empirical and theoretical issues in international finance, global banking and open economy macroeconomics to address the challenges confronting the global economy. The global inflation is easing and this shift may allow central banks to lower interest rates gradually. Global growth may be steady, but it’s still not uniform. Government budgets are stretched, and in response austerity and stricter fiscal policies are on the way. Corporate insolvencies are on the rise. Geopolitical uncertainty and new Tariffs remain top concerns for the global economy. These new developments, coupled with uneven economic growth and geopolitical fragmentation, have resulted in substantial fluctuations in exchange rates, capital flows and global imbalances. Consequently, these developments heighten concerns regarding monetary policy and financial stability.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
International monetary and financial system
Financial globalization and interconnectedness
Macroeconomic and financial implications of geopolitics
Stability of the financial system under climate change
Monetary and fiscal policy spillovers
