摘要：Mental health problems among adolescents have become a growing concern in many countries around the world. Using health insurance claims data from a first-tier city in China, this paper provides statistical evidence of adolescent mental health problems and empirically tests the impact of academic stress on mental health. The main findings are as follows: First, the number and percentage of visits for adolescent mental health problems increased significantly from 2017 to 2021, especially for the junior high school group; Second, the number of visits is strongly correlated with academic stress, with the lowest number of visits during summer and winter holidays and the highest number of visits during the examination season; the regression analysis also confirmed the patterns; Third, we find that China's double deduction policy, which aims to reduce students' academic stress, has no effect on adolescent mental health problems.

宋弘，复旦大学经济学院教授、博导，研究领域为劳动经济学、公共经济学，入选国家级青年人才计划（2021），论文发表于American Economic Journal: Economic Policy、Journal of Labor Economics，Journal of Development Economics、Journal of International Economics、Journal of Human Resources、《经济研究》、《管理世界》、《经济学季刊》等国内外权威期刊。曾获张培刚发展经济学青年学者奖、洪银兴经济学奖、上海市曙光学者、上海社科新人, 邓子基财经学术论文奖、上海市哲学社会科学优秀成果奖、学术新锐奖等。多份资政专报被国家领导同志批示，被国家和地方政府部门采纳，担任Journal of Asian Economics、China & World Economy、《世界经济文汇》等期刊副主编或编委，曾获复旦大学教学创新大赛一等奖等。
