China’s Agriculture Trade: Issues and Prospects
Call for Contributed Papers:
You are invited to submit a proposal for a contributed paper to be presented at the symposium on China’s Agriculture Trade: Issues and Prospects co-organized by the International Agricultural Trade Research Consortium (IATRC), the China Center for Economic Research, Peking University, and the Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This symposium will be held on July 8-9th, 2007 in Beijing, China.
The symposium is co-sponsored by the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center, Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China, and the Small Farmers Adapting to Global Markets Project, China-Canada Agriculture Development Program.
We encourage submission of abstracts that broadly address agricultural trade and development issues, preferably with a focus on issues of relevance to China. Potential broad topics include:
• Trade in Specific Commodities and China’s Role (e.g., cotton, wheat, corn, soybeans).
• Foreign Direct Investment in Developing Countries
• Land Reform Issues
• Labor Market Issues
• Resource and Environmental Issues (e.g., water)
• Trade Policy Issues
• Agricultural Policy Issues
• Exchange Rate Policies and Export-Led Growth
• Monetary Policy and the Banking System in Developing Countries
Abstracts should be no longer than two pages, single-spaced, laying out the research problem, the methodology used and a summary of the results. Acceptance will be based on a well defined research question and the potential relevance of the findings to a large developing country like China. The abstracts must be submitted by February 28, 2007, and authors will be informed of the status of their submission by March 31, 2007. Once accepted, completed papers are due June 15th, 2007. Updates on the conference program, travel information, and accommodations will be posted on the IATRC website: www.iatrcweb.org
To submit a proposal, you will need to create a title page which should include the following:
a. Title of the submission
b. Name(s) of the author(s) and affiliation(s)
c. Mailing address(es)
d. e-mail address(es)
