Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management is a fast growing department within Morgan Stanley Asia. You will work closely with PWM specialists to develop dynamic and flexible wealth management solutions for your clients. This involves mastering the various aspects of the wealth management process.

The Analyst Program in Private Wealth Management

How the program works and the day-to-day experience you can expect 
The Asia PWM Analyst Program runs for two years. During that time, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience by working with our Sales Team. The roles and responsibilities of an analyst vary but typically include:
• Researching and analyzing investment opportunities and ideas 
• Monitoring events in the financial markets 
• Developing and preparing marketing presentations 
• Analyzing client portfolios 
• Executing transactions 
• Discussing new investment themes and ideas at portfolio meetings
Launching Your Career
The initial training that you receive on starting the program
This rigorous program consists of sessions designed to help you:
• Build knowledge of the firm’s platform, products, and solutions 
• Develop sales and client relationship skills 
• Prepare for and obtain securities industry certification (U.S., Europe, and Asia: Series 7, 66, and 31; Asia only: Paper 1, 7, 8, and 9 registered with Securities and Futures Commission)
• Interact with PWM managers and IR mentors 
• Network within PWM and across the firm 
• Receive specialized coaching in interpersonal skills and aspects of the financial industry through external vendors 
• Complete team and individual project work, including managing a portfolio, developing a business plan, pitching to mock clients, and generating viable prospects
Developing Your Career
What you can anticipate as you make progress and after completing the program
Once you have finished the formal training program, additional ongoing training is encouraged through various programs sponsored by Morgan Stanley’s Learning and Development team, off-site seminars, and support from your Regional Manager and PWM specialist teams. At the end of the 3-year Analyst program, you will be considered for promotion to Associate.

Requirements
To apply for the PWM Analyst Program, you should be completing your undergraduate degree by May/June 2009 with excellent academic results
Special Requirement for Asia:
Fluency in an Asian language, such as Mandarin, Cantonese, Thai, Tagalog, or Bahasa, is required
Selection Process
Candidates are encouraged to attend various Morgan Stanley PWM pre-interview events on campus, career fairs, and/or presentations. All applications are screened by senior individuals in PWM.
Candidates should expect to have at least two interviews with senior members from across the division.

Morgan Stanley's Sales & Trading Analyst class is treated as a top priority because we know it will produce the future generation of leaders for the firm. Analysts have the opportunity to develop and master the analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills they will need to succeed. The division's flat organizational structure and open trading floor allow Analysts opportunities to collaborate with more experienced colleagues and learn from senior Sales & Trading professionals. A fast-paced and intense environment requires an aptitude for analyzing and interpreting often complex information in a timely manner.
The Analyst Program in Sales & Trading
How the program works and the day-to-day experience you can expect 
Morgan Stanley's Sales & Trading division has a two-year Analyst Program. Many of our outstanding Analysts are asked to stay on to continue a full career at Morgan Stanley.
Within the different business functions the following roles exist for Analysts joining the program:
• Sales Develop their own client base and are responsible for developing long-term relationships, developing investment ideas, selling and cross-selling the firm's products, and for representing the firm with clients on important business issues 
• Trading Generate trading ideas and analysis, and support all aspects of the market making trade execution process, from providing research analytics on trades to relative value analysis 
• Structuring Build computational models to help issuers and investors optimize a transaction's economics and quantify sources of value and risk 
• Research All Analysts typically also spend time in Research to gain product knowledge and relative-value analytical skills, interacting with issuers, institutional investor clients, traders, salespeople and capital market professionals to develop and disseminate investment ideas

The initial training that you receive on starting the program 
Analysts joining Asia Pacific Sales & Trading begin with a comprehensive training program to equip them with the skills, knowledge and tools to make an immediate contribution to the division. The curriculum features extensive financial product and market-knowledge training, product talks and professional development classes, bond math, and credit modeling.
In addition to classroom training, you receive on-the-job coaching and feedback throughout the program.
You will have networking opportunities with peers and colleagues as well as frequent interaction with senior managers through information sessions and other organized events.

Requirements
Analysts must have completed their undergraduate degree with an outstanding academic record and have an interest in the financial markets.
Fluency in English and an Asian language is a definite plus.
