Air Products was one of the first multinational gas corporations to enter the mainland China market and set up its first joint venture company in 1987 in Shekou. Since then, we have been expanding our business and investment in China to become a leading supplier in the market.
Today we have more than 40 companies and 50 production facilities along the coastal regions, and have built solid positions in Southern, Eastern, Western and Northern China and are expanding into new regions.
We serve a diversity of markets in China including food processing, steel making, glass production, water treatment, semiconductor, panel displays, photovoltaic, refinery, shoe making, construction and coatings, and more.
We are committed to supporting China’s economic growth and protecting the environment. For example, our hydrogen and fuel cell technology helped power the official shuttle buses and cars which transported athletes during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Our PRISM* membrane separators are used in the equipment to produce enriched oxygen for the passenger compartments on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, enabling a breathe-easy train journey on the world’s highest highland railway track.
China is also the hub of our technology center, engineering center, cryogenic equipment manufacturing center, and strategic sourcing center for Air Products’ business throughout Asia and across the world.
