Welcome to join FMP(Financial Management Program) in General Electric Company!
FMP Overview
The Financial Management Program (FMP) is GE''s premiere entry level training program for high potential individuals seeking a Finance career. FMP is the cornerstone in the development of future Finance leaders at GE. The program consists of 4 or 5 six-month rotational assignments at a GE Business combined with 4 intensive, graded courses taught by GE professionals. FMP''s also attend a leadership development seminar and are exposed to GE leaders through both formal and informal mentoring networks.
Rotations
FMPs are given challenging assignments which may include both routine responsibilities (ranging from product line profitability, short- and long-term forecasting, financial reporting, pricing, manufacturing cost analysis, etc.) to project work (examples include new product introduction, due diligence, customer web centers, fulfillment, etc). Almost all rotations involve interaction with high-level management and exposure to other functions. FMP assignments become increasingly challenging as you gain more experience.
Courses
FMPs complete four courses in 2-2 1/2 years. The first two classes are multimedia computer-based study combined with regional workshops where you will interact with FMPs from other GE Businesses and make presentations to upper-level managers. The course content focuses on the basics of accounting and finance as applied to GE Business operations. The second two classes are primarily case-based with weekly on-site classroom meetings. The courses focus on operational strategy, competitive analysis, audit techniques, and risk management. Classes are taught by GE Finance professionals and all courses are graded.
Off-Program Placement
FMP prepares graduates for positions with a significant level of responsibility and challenging off-program assignments. Many graduates join the GE Audit Staff. Others enter financial analyst positions in one of the GE businesses. Cross-functional assignments are also a possibility. The paths vary based on individual preferences and business requirements, but successful Program graduates have accelerated career paths and are ahead of their non-FMP peers. GE values the training and experience gathered while on FMP and views FMP as the foundation for future GE Finance leaders.
